I took these a while ago and then got sidetracked for some reason. Either Morag or Michael had suggested doing a kind of Millais'
Ophelia type shot, but with books instead of flowers. However, I couldn't face drowning a whole batch of books and just did one, torn up, instead...

Very beautiful, especially the first one. I really like the watery glow they have. The big question, of course, is what book is Ophelia drowning in?
Thanks! :-) I think it's "Driving Over Lemons", which I believe I got free with something, never really liked, and which had disintegrated from being in the garage...
Arggh! Ripping up books! You vandal you!
Joking apart, like the first one. Looks like a front cover for a murrdur book..
Ripping up a 'crappy' book for one of Claire's amazing photos? I'm willing to settle for the trade. I'm also coming to Scotland so you can make me look that pretty. too.
Thanks, Julie and Heather! You are welcome to come over and be photographed any time - my usual victims, I mean, subjects will no doubt be glad of the rest ;-)
And talking of "murrrdurr" books, I've just remembered that it wasn't the lemons book at all, but this one: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Miniature-Man-R-Muir/dp/0954575946/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1254244546&sr=8-2 which had a good first half, but a kind of rubbish and excessively violent ending...
I have always had great affection for Ophelia and her performances and in particular that of Millais.
I love your Ophelia, the idea of drowning in the pages of books is excellent, wonderful photos .. all the sweetness and mystery of Ophelia is there to hide the extreme violence of his gestures.
Bravo.
Victim!?!
Merci beaucoup, MTA!
Heather - don't worry, they don't usually hate it *too* much ;-)
