Frenzy!

This week sees the final leg of the mad poetry frenzy that's been gripping Glasgow recently!

Tomorrow at 5.30pm in Glasgow Uni's St. Andrews Building, Donny is launching his new book of poems about New Mexico: "The Cleft in my Heart".

And on Tuesday at 7.30pm in Sloans Bar, Argyle St. Brian Turner will be reading from his collection of poems: "Here, Bullet".

Do come along!

Scaremonger in the Anatomy Museum

Last night was the Vital Synz reading with Simon Armitage and Hazel Frew in the Anatomy Museum at Glasgow University (the title of this entry is stolen from David Kinloch who pointed out that it was quite a good venue for a reading from someone in a band called The Scaremongers).

Lots of books from John Smiths.

People arrive at the museum.

Simon Armitage at the Anatomy Theatre

The next Vital Synz event is a reading by Simon Armitage on 13th March at 7.30pm in the Anatomy Building at Glasgow University. Tickets cost £10 (£5 conc.) and are on sale at the door from 7pm.

Simon Armitage is widely recognised as one of the major UK poets of today. He was born in West Yorkshire, and works as a freelance writer, broadcaster and playwright. He has won many major poetry awards, and has published many collections.

Also reading on the night will be Hazel Frew, one of the current St Mungo’s Mirrorball poets.

If you're not familiar with the location of the Anatomy Building (i.e. you're not a Glasgow Uni medic) have a quick look at the map below, to which I've added a large, friendly red arrow...
