For the last year or so one of the offices in the Systems corridor has had an inflatable platypus hanging from their ceiling. I noticed the other day that it had been taken down, and was quite worried it was going to be thrown out.
However, Michael asked its owner who explained that they had a new person coming to live in the office and had to make room for him (presumably the space situation has got so bad in the WGB that new PhD students are forced to hang from the ceiling - perhaps with the aid of gravity boots in the manner of Agent Cooper).
Anyway, the upshot is that I have custody of the platypus until Julian and Co. have room for him again :-) (N.B. this is not Julian the Pink Sheep). I feel that it is an ideal addition to the office and may well come in handy for for beating up obstreperous students...
