Headshots - Part 3
The third and final part of the random headshots project features poet Donny O'Rourke, who was the illustrious leader of the DACE poetry course I did for a couple of years and thoroughly enjoyed.
Donny's flat is wildly interesting as it's full of extra-round bay windows, paintings and books...
...the only drawback of this being the scarcity of blank walls. However, we did manage to find one...
...then headed out into the close where I became slightly obsessed with the stained glass window and the light coming through it...
...finally going for a couple of hat shots...
...(Leonard be damned)...
More shots over here.

Zoey Van Goey Album Launch
Having recently joined More Than The Music as a photo contributor, I headed off to cover my first gig for them: the launch of Zoey Van Goey's new album, with support from Human Don't Be Angry (aka Malcolm Middleton) at the Classic Grand.

Malcolm Middleton (who was afflicted by the stage power going out for a few minutes halfway through his first song)
and another violinist (Jenny Reeve from Strike the Colours, who was also playing guitar - occasionally simultaneously).
Hopefully these and/or some others will be appearing at MTTM over the next few days, and the album is out on the 14th February (with lots of excellent new songs including one about a Robot Tyrannosaur).

Bethany de Forest
Having fallen prey to a book on making your own pinhole cameras recently, I was looking round the web for some examples. My favourites so far are some by Bethany de Forest, a Dutch photographer who not only makes the cameras (some of them out of mirrors) but also builds tiny model worlds for the photos to be set in (as in the photo above). Her website is really interesting and has loads of examples and information (though unfortunately the magazine and newspaper scans are mostly in Dutch).

Headshots - Part 2
My next headshot photo victim was Glasgow writer Kirsty Logan, who was bravely photographed in all sorts of locations in the city centre, starting with the mirrored entrance hall in GoMA (I have a thing for mirror-y photos).
Then out on Queen St./Ingram St.
outside Agent Provocateur, which had a backdrop I thought would be ideal for author photos accompanying very serious articles...
Finally, we talked our way into the Corinthian where there was a deserted bar with yet another mirror in it which provided a suitably interesting blurry background...
You can see the rest of the shots over here.

32 Miles in the Fog
I was back at The Ferry, in the fog (which later cleared enough from the city centre to get the photos of the river in the last entry) to photograph 32 Miles to Breakfast. I caught up with them just as they were going in to the Ferry and we all narrowly managed to avoid sliding on the almost-vertical gangway thing and making an unnecessarily dramatic entrance (the river seemed much higher than usual).
There were a couple of bands on before them, the first one was very loud. Their drummer in particular played as though the drum-kit had previously upset him and he was looking for revenge... After that was Psycho Babe, who were less loud, more tuneful and whose singer and guitarist were much more photographically fun with flamboyant outfits, lots of hair, and lots of flinging themselves around the stage...
James hidden away with the drums.
